How To Get the Kids Ready for a Trip to Town

Looking at the time, she notices how late she is.

Oh, shoot!

“Kids come on! Come on, we need to get ready. We have to be in town at such and such time and we’re running late! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”

She hears herself saying these words, but looks around and doesn’t see anyone making a move to get ready.

Nobody stopped what they were doing.

Nobody made a move to find shoes, get a diaper bag, help with the little ones.

Nobody made one single move.

“Guys!,” she says a bit more firmly. “Get up and get ready,” she demands.

“Aww, mom, do we have to go? Can’t we stay with papa?”

“No! Get ready. Please help me get your sisters ready.”

Sheesh, we finally made it out the door.

Get in the car, try to turn ignition.

Damn it! No keys.

“Boys, where’s the keys?”

Shrugs and grunts and……nothing.

Climb out of the vehicle to go inside and search for keys.

Ahh, there they are…on the counter.

Rush back out to vehicle.

“Mom, I gotta go potty!”

Are you serious?

…..more silence……

You were just in the house?”

……and still…..silence…….

Go back inside and let her go potty.

Back out to the car, buckle in, back out of the driveway.

Now….making our way to the highway.

“*****, please call your dad to let him know we’re on our way.”

“Mom, where’s your phone cuz it’s not in your purse?”

“Check again.”

“Mom! It’s not in here!”

Make sure nobody’s coming down the street, turn into approaching driveway to backtrack!

Sheesh! On the road again.

“Mom, I gotta go pee.”

“What? Are. You. Kidding. Me?”

……..Blank stare……..

“You’re peeing on the side of the road!”

*Boisterous laughter from the backseat because…..

What boy doesn’t like to pee on the side of the road?

“Mom, I’m hungry.”

“Well, you have to wait until we get to town.”

“buuuttt, I’m hungry nooowww….”

“Stop it. We will eat when we get to town.”

Darn it! Mr. L, can you grab a wipe to clean your sister’s sticky fingers?”

Heavy sigh…..

Rustling around in back seat…

“Mom, where’s the diaper bag?”

Red faced, smoke coming out of my ears…..

“Didn’t you grab it?”

“Nodody grabbed the diaper bag?”

“Well, I’m not turning around!”

It is beautiful price sufficient for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the web can be
much more useful than ever before.
